Godmanchester started 2007 on a
high after beating Barton Rovers 4-1 in the League plate to put them through to the second round. For the first time in months
Goddy had near enough a full squad only missing Andrea Starr. Laura McAllister made a comeback from her ankle ligament damage
which has kept her out of football for 3 months and Claire Radford returned after missing the last few games.
Goddy started the game the better
team and from the first minute Goddy attacked the Barton defence putting pressure on them and forcing a lot of corners. Goddys
award came when Sarah Moore played the ball over to Kerry Elmer who crossed it low into the area for Sarah Gee to slot the
ball home to put Goddy ahead. From this Goddy grew in confidence and good link up play between Claire Radford and Sarah Gee
led to Claire Radford slotting her first goal away of the game. A ball through to Karen Williams who beat the offside trap
saw her put the ball into the back of the net but only for the referee to pull her up for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Goddy went into half time 2-0 up
and playing some good football
Goddy started the second half how
they finished the first half playing some good one touch football. The strong Goddy back four kept out Barton from having
any decent chances on goal in the whole game. Goddy attacked down the right wing
once again and a cross by Kerry Elmer was met by Sarah Gee who placed in it into the net to make the scoring 3-0 .Emily Ingle
injured her calf muscle on the 60th minute and had to be replaced by Laura McAllister making her comeback after
3 months out and she slotted in the centre of midfield and with her first touch of the game she was unlucky not to score when
her shot hit the top of the bar and went out for a goal kick. Goddy final goal of the game came when Sarah Gee played a ball
through to Claire Radford who played it past the goalkeeper to make the score 4-0. Barton only real attack on target came
when a ball through to there centre forward placed it pass the oncoming Kate Bunch to make the final score 4-1
