COTTENHAM UTD 0
Rovers came into this game looking
for an improved performance after last weeks defeat.
Rovers new this would be a midfield
battle but were without influential midfielder Laura McAllister missing through injury. Godmanchester looked very pedestrian
As Cottenham started the stronger
and soon took control of the midfield. Rovers were missing influential midfielder Laura McAllister through injury and the
first thirty minutes saw Godmancehster
under constant pressure. However Cottenham failed to capitalise with some poor finishing and good saves from Rovers keeper
Kate Bunch. Towards the end of the first half Godmanchester gradually got back into the game with a couple of half chances.
At strong half time team talk
and tactical changes resulted in a game of two halfs with Godmanchester starting strongly and missing a hatful of chances.
The game was heading for a draw however
with ten minutes to go two Cottenham players were sent off for verbally abusing the referee. Rovers through caution to the
wind and went three up front but failed
to clinch three points.
“Our first half performance
was probably the worst we have ever played. We lacked shape, tackled weakly and were appalling; to go in goalless was a miracle. Our players responded to the half time team talk
and were exceptional in the second half and were unlucky not to take three points. Both teams could have done With a win but In fairness a draw was a fair result"
