Godmanchester Rovers 1  Barton Rovers 1

Godmanchester came into this game confident they would continue their unbeaten run 2007.
They dominated from kick off and outplayed Barton creating six clear goal scoring opportunites but unusually lacked that finial finish. Karen Williams limped off with a hamstring injury and had to be replaced by Emma shaw which meant the whole midfield had to be reshuffled ,Godmanchester finally took a well deserved lead on 34 minutes when the Barton keeper failed to hold a Sarah Gee shot after Gee and Claire Radford had linked up well together. Emma Shaw was then denied her first goal for the club when clearly her header from a Sarah Gee cross had crossed the line but the refferee failed to see it and the score remained 1-0 to Goddy.
The second half saw much the same as Godmanchester totally dominated the game ,Laura McAllister just coming back to full fitness from a long term injury had to be replaced by Amy Sheeran who was coming on to make her debut for Goddy at half time,it took Barton fifteen minutes to get the ball out of their own half!
The missed opportunites and bad luck continued for Godmanchester and late into the second half they were hit with the sucker punch. With five minutes to go a Barton free kick was floated over the Godmanchester defensive and the Barton striker hit a weak shot which the keeper failed to deal with making a final score of 1-1.
"There was only one team who played football today and that was us. We dominated for 85% of the game and should have scored at least six. We paid the price for failing to capitialise on the numerous chances we created. Barton were outplayed in all areas of the pitch and the only attempt on goal they had went in due to poor goalkeeping. Its a cruel game but I am sure our players have learnt the hard way that they must put away chances."
