Barton Rovers 4 Godmanchester 2

Godmanchester Ladies travelled to Barton on a very wet and cold day with only 10 fit players. Laura Mc Allister still suffering from a ankle injury she picked up a few weeks ago went into goal and Kate Bunch came onto the pitch to play at centre back. Goddy went into this game missing 5 key players. Emma Shaw,Claire Radford,Emily Ingle,Andrea Starr and Zoe DeGrussa were all missing for different reasons. We started with a 4-4-1 formation but soon came clear that that formation wasnt working when Barton were creating chances and defensive mistakes meant that Barton scored 3 goals in a short space of time. Bartons fourth goal was an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area which even Paul Robinson wouldnt have saved. Laura Mc Allister pulled off a great save to keep the score at 4-0. Goddy soon started to raise there game and was playing some good football and a through ball from Karen Williams was found by Sarah Gee who slotted it pass the oncoming goalkeeper to pull a goal back. Good play down the right wing by Emma Dainty and Karen Williams meant that Goddy started to create more chances but just couldnt score anymore goals before half time. Half time score was 4-1
Goddy came out in the second half and were confident that they could get back into the game. Goddy create chance after chance but just couldnt find the net. With 15minutes to go Goddy were rewarded a penalty when there was a foul on Emma Dainty in the area, Becks Thoday steped up to score her first goal of the season and to make it 4-2. Goddy continued to pressurise the Barton defence but just couldnt get them vitals goals needed and The final score was 4-2 to Barton

" Most of the 10 girls gave 110% today in difficult weather conditions and a boggy pitch today and you couldnt ask for more from them. Once again some of there teammates had let them down and the team today have suffered because of that. Next weekend we should have a full sqaud and there could be some suprises on the teamsheet"
